Sažetak
For many years Croatian civil engineers have been heading large-scale projects that demand special managerial skills, although without any formal training in management. As Croatia is fast moving towards European Union and the western model of market economy it has become obvious that civil engineers need additional training in business. Thus educating civil engineers to manage companies and projects successfully is an extremely important task. In 2002, the International “ MBA in Construction” programme was launched at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb, specially designed and adapted to the construction industry’ s specific needs, as “ general” MBA is not always suitable for engineers holding managerial jobs in companies and/or in construction projects. Most of the students attending the programme were civil engineers and architects, graduates from Faculties in Croatia. The authors are presenting problems that have emerged from the introduction of the programme and also giving suggestions for its future improvement and development
