Sažetak
Field research was made in the coastal area of the East part of the Adriatic Sea between 1980 and 1990. In total 49 meadows of Posidonia oceanica were investigated. 250 samples on the sampling area of 0.50 m x 0.50 m (0.25 m2) were collected and analysed. Density of meadows is shown as number of shoots/m2, and categorisation is made according to Giraud (1977). The results showed that average shoots density is between 650, 6 shoots/m2 on the depth of 5 m and 160 shoots/m2 on the depth of 30 m. The average number of shoots for the same investigated depth is significantly increased in the meadows that are placed further from the mainland, like investigated meadows on the island areas.
