Sažetak
The essence of metaphor is understanding and interpreting one kind of experience in terms of another. Analyzing the examples from the Collins Cobuild Corpus the theses attempts to show how the meaning of the same conceptual category (in this case the conceptual category SEA) can be motivated by people's conceptual knowledge to create different metaphorical mappings. This shows how metaphor participates in the conceptualisation process by activating different interpretations of experience and in this way guiding our reasoning and behaviour.
