Sažetak
The development of scientific interest and research methods led to the awareness that the definition of approach and experiment design represent crucial issues in experimental work. The term "experimental" is used here in strict sense, the implication being that the system under study is under full control of the investigator. While accepting the fact that our personal and cultural bias influences the perception and interpretation of natural phenomena, we try to reduce these influences to the minimum using standard procedures. The scientific method is based on several steps: observation and description of a phenomenon or group of phenomena is followed by the formulation of a hypothesis which enables prediction, so that we gain more from theory that we have invested in it. It is frequently said that scientific theories are never proved right, but proved wrong, meaning that we can always expect some new observation or experiment to be in contradiction to accepted theory. This paper has two objectives. Firstly, it seeks to promote discussion and debate about the need to encourage experimentation in the field of graphic engineering. The graphic community's lack of apprehension for the need for above mentioned experimentation is slowing down adoption of new technology. The second objective is to present formal ideas of experimentation methods and approaches in graphics field, based on experimental design and analysis techniques used in other branches of science.
