Sažetak
The paper analyses the effects of implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in hotel industry in the countries in transition – the case of Croatia. The concept of Total Quality Management has gained prominence during the last two decades, both in developed and developing countries. In the age of globalization and turbulent environment Croatian enterprises are forced to implement new management approaches and one of them is TQM in order to achieve world – class competitiveness. The Republic of Croatia is currently going through great changes caused by transition. It is reflected on many fields, especially on hospitality. Structural changes that took place in Croatian's tourist market in recent years caused an imbalance between the existing hospitality demand and the supply. Implementation of TQM in hotel process offers an opportunity to improve the overall quality of the service in difficult market condition. Research methods are selected in accordance with the defined theme ; some of them are analysis, synthesis, description and comparison. The paper shows some of the characteristics and possibilities for improving the Croatian hospitality industry.
