Sažetak
The paper analyses the effects of implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in hotel industry in the countries in transition - the case of Croatia. The Republic of Croatia is currently going through great changes caused by transition. It is reflected on many fields, especially on hospitality. Structural changes that took place in Croatian's tourist market in recent years caused an imbalance between the existing hospitality demand and the supply. Difficult business conditions require new management approach in hospitality, emphasizing the improvement of quality services. Transformational business strategy is based on quality control of product and service. Implementation of TQM in hotel process offers an opportunity to improve the overall quality of the service in difficult market condition. This paper emphasizes the importance of standardization for implementing TQM in hotel industry, particularly in Croatia. The paper shows some of the characteristics and possibilities for improving the Croatian hospitality industry.
