Sažetak
Football, or the most important secondary thing in the world, is the endless source of interesting issues in the field of sport sociology. The purpose of this study was to explore the general attitude toward football development. General attitude toward football was measured by seven-point scale in three elementary schools, one from metropolitan center, second from metropolitan suburb, and third from nearby village. The total sample of 1071 subjects consists of all pupils from 5th to 8th grade, aged 11 – 15 years, who attended classes at the day of measurement. The sample consists of 344 children from urban area, 296 from suburban region and 431 living in village, with total of 545 boys and 526 girls. Three-factor univariant analysis of variance was applied, with factors defined by gender, residential status and school grade. The results show statistically significant F – values for all three factors, as well as for interaction of three factors. The paired interactions were insignificant for gender and residential status and gender and school grade, but the significant interaction was find for residential status and school grade. The results show that boys like football more than girls, that attitude toward football is more positive as children live further from the centre of the town, and that attitudes toward that sport are more positive as the children are getting older, from 5th to 8th grade. Considering the large media eminence and its popularity in our society, it could be expected that adoption of an attitude toward football is a simple process. However, the results are indicating necessity for more complex approach to the subject.
