Sažetak
The thesis deals with cases of nominalization and sententialization occurring in translation of specialized texts from English into Croatian and vice versa. These translation strategies include transforming and supplementing. In the process of transforming, the noun in the source structure is transformed into a clause (sententialization) or a clause is transformed into a noun (nominalization). In the cases of supplementing, the source structure does not contain a form which can be transformed into the finite verb so this verb is supplemented according to world knowledge. The analysis of the corpus takes into account both syntactic and semantic changes as well as the change in informational density and syntactic complexity of the target structure resulting from the sententialization/nominalization process.
