Sažetak
The authors emphasize significance of timely planning and construction of individual portions of the B&H transport system which is connected with two European multimodal corridors: Corridor X: Salzburg - Ljubljana - Zagreb/Budapest - Belgrade - Niš (with links to Sofia - Ankara and Skopje - Thessaloniki) and Corridor Vc: Budapest - Sarajevo - Ploče. The paper focuses on the issue of establishing a road link between the industrial region of Tuzla and the said corridors. A possible solution to this problem would be to build an express road in the existing road corridor Tuzla - (Šički Brod) - Srebrenik - Orašje with the Tuzla – Žepče link via the Krivaja river valley, by the year 2015. The cost-benefit analysis shows that the express road alternative is superior to the semi-motorway alternative although the latter has been considered since 2001 as an optimum solution to this problem. The authors consider that the semi-motorway solution developed in 2001 should additionally be examined from the environmental, engineering-geological and geotechnical standpoints, and that the construction should start after realization of the express road.
