Sažetak
There are different methods of teaching and development of speech communication in hearing and/or speech impaired persons. Verbotonal method – based on linguistics of speech and polysensory listening - achieves human communication in a natural – simple way. This means teaching hearing and/or speech impaired person how to listen and speak. In such a way, basis for any further development of a child is created. Development of speech and tongue requires maximal development of auditory abilities while interaction of all elements shall lead to a new value - communication. Human being is a central issue of Verbotonal method, with all its capabilities and its optimal functioning on all the levels of development. Having in mind the aim of complete development of a child – Verbotonal method has developed specific procedures (techniques). By applying optimal procedures, according to the possibilities of each individual, the main goal can be achieved successfully- Active integration into a regular system of education. Ever since the appearance of cochlear implant, its intensive use in the Republic of Croatia, Verbotonal method has been recognized as an ideal approach to the rehabilitation of persons with cochlear implant. Founded of the basics of Verbotonal method (long-term experience in theory and practice) by following scientific development and by applying new technologies- Verbotonal model of rehabilitation-educational programme was promptly developed.
