Sažetak
Introduction: The biggest problem in patients with peritoneal catheters (because of peritoneal dialysis or ventriculoperitoneal shunt) is infection. Because of that, any abdominal manipulation, especially operation, can compromise catheter function. The risk of infection exists if operation is performed simultaneously with catheter implantation or in cases when catheter was placed previously. Materials und methods: At the end of 1993 we started with laparoscopic implantation of peritoneal catheters. For this operation we use a especially constructed trocar, and own original procedure. During laparoscopic implantation of catheter for peritoneal dialysis, we performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 14 cases, adhesiolysis in 22 cases, and in one case right adnexectomy. In 4 cases laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed several months after placement of peritoneal catheter (peritoneal dialysis catheter in 2 cases, and ventriculoperitoneal shunt catheter in 2 cases). Results: There were no intraoperative or postoperative complications, and no complications with catheter function. Conclusion: Laparoscopic operation can be performed during implantation of peritoneal catheter and in cases of persisting peritoneal catheter without increasing the numbers of complications.
