Sažetak
Winter wheat breeding program for resistance to Fusarium head blight was established in the Zagreb Bc Institute with the purpose to reduce the negative effect of the mentioned disease on grain yield and quality as much as possible. The aim was to develop our own material with superior resistance and grain yield. Wheat lines were tested for resistance to head blight caused by Fusarium gramienarum Schw. in field trials at location Botinec in 2004 and 2005 under conditions of artificial inoculation. Each year 20 wheat lines and three sources of resistance were included i-e- Roazon, (D 48x42x6)2 and Poncheau. In both years (2004 and 2005) the same nine materials were tested, and in each year 14 new wheat lines. Geain yields were estimated under conditions of natural infection. Trials were laid in four replications following randomzed block design. Acceptable resistance degree and yielding capacity were obatined owing to selected sources of resistance: Beauchamp, SO-1065, 434 K-4CM, Mold-1304-83, and FD-91147 among which stads out domestic source Bc 87/87. In the process of winter wheat breeding for resistance to Fusarium head blight, good resistance degree and yield capacity were obtained for several lines, such as: Bc 5887/91, Bc 18/91, Bc 9362/99, Bc 5073/00, Bc 310/01 and Bc 5325/02. The aim of this work was to show successful primarily owing to the very effective method of artificial inoculation used under our growing conditions.
