Sažetak
Recently, a new spectroscopic technique Cold Target Recoil Ion Momentum Spectroscopy (COLTRIMS) has been developed, ref 1. and references therein. This technique allows the measurement of three dimensional momentum vector of recoiling target ion created in photon-atom process. Using COLTRIMS a double differential cross sections (with respect to the transverse recoil momentum of He+, ++ ions) were obtained in photoabsorption and Compton scattering on He-atom at a photon energy of about 8 keV, ref. 2. Before COLTRIMS, the Compton scattering process on atomic electrons was analysed almost always in terms of scattered photon and/or ejected electron variables, in particular as a tool for a determination of bound electron momentum distribution, ref 3, 4 and references therein. In this article we present a theoretical framework for Compton scattering process on bound electrons, based on recoil-ion momentum observable. Our approach implies an averaging over scattered photon and ejected electron variables, taking into account the energy and momentum conservation. We show the results for differential cross sections (with respect to the transverse recoil-ion momentum) for Compton scattering on He-atom (single ionisation). In our calculations we used both, an impulse approximation approach as well as "A2" approximation. We discuss the validity of those approximative methods and the utility of Compton cross sections expressed only in recoil-momentum observable. In particular we present the calculations of differential cross sections reported in ref. 2 (single ionisation).
