Sažetak
Elemental composition of samples from environment is of great importance to life. Namely, the most environmental biological and other specimens have to be free of elements which can have deteriorating effects on health. The method of detection of characteristic X-rays have been used for simultaneous determination of trace element concentration in earth, motor oils and marine organisms[1, 2]. The characteristic X-rays from all targets prepared from enviromental samples were excited using radiation from 109Cd radioactive source and detected in a high resolution Si(Li) detector. Some of those samples were analysed using other means of excitation. The X-ray tube and proton beam from Van der Graaff accelerator were used. Although all excitation modes produce similar results, there is a difference in the sensitivity and detection limit for particular elements.
