Sažetak
Boosting of market economy and market liberalization lead inevitably to increased supply of different quality products, prices and competitiveness. In their attempt to attract as many customers as possible various marketing approaches are employed. Frequently used terms related to the furniture, especially that to sit and lie on are: orthopedic, medicinal, anatomic, ecological, natural and so many others. Their meaning is frequently questionable and creates many dilemmas with the end users. The attractiveness of design, good packaging materials and acceptable prices along with some „marketing phrases“ here and there, are hard to resist. Just some years ago these phrases sounded meaningful and a comparatively high price was a guarantee for good and bona fide intentions of the manufacturers. Nowadays, however, this philosophy is rarely a rule. In our study we made a research into the quality of decorative mattress covers claimed by their manufacturers as „ the fabrics with good air flow and permeability that provides rapid conduction of moisture from the cover and mattress without holding and trapping moisture in the inner structures“ . The study of moisture permeability has shown absence of the claimed properties. Unlike other similar products of the same manufacturer, the studied ones had the least of the claimed characteristics, irrespective of what is advertised and sold.
