Sažetak
Fusarium subglutinans (/Wollenw. & Reinking/ P.E. Nelson, Toussoun & Marasas) is the most important disease affecting maize ears in Slovenia. For this reason, tolerance of several maize inbreds and hybrids to F. subglutinans is being continuously monitored. In the world, the most significant is F. moniliforme (J. Sheld.), because of mycotoxins. The aim of the investigation was to compare tolerance of maize hybrids to both fungi. In systematic field experiments 15 hybrids were artificially infected with F. subglutinans (at Jable near Ljubljana, Slovenia), and F. moniliforme (at Rugvica near Zagreb, Croatia). Significant effects of GCA and SCA associated with tolerance to F. subglutinans, and the correlation between ear rot caused by F. subglutinans and F. moniliforme, were established.
