Sažetak
Because of genetic uniformity of the used material in maize breeding, it is necessary to develop material with broadened germplasm. This is why domestic variety Beljski zuban, i.e. the inbred lines derived present valuable material in terms of economy and as genetically divergent breeding material. The aim of this research was to test successfulness of pedigree selection with Beljski zuban through grain yield and resistance to stalk rot over three cycles. Fifteen inbred lines originating from Beljski zuban were tested along with 19 maize hybrids obtained from crossing the lines with two testers (Lancaster and BSSS). Under conditions of artificial inoculation with Fusarium graminearum and Coletotrichum graminicola resistance to stalk rot was significantly improved. In testing for grain yield over two years, the best lines were Bc 51143, Bc 51141, Bc 51603 and Bc 51142.
