Sažetak
The thesis deals with the presence and the functional distribution of the MT in teacher and learner talk in FLT at an elementary level. The theoretical part gives a historical overview of the methods and approaches in FLT with regard to the use of the MT. It also provides a short description of the classroom observation systems. The results of the analysis of three transcribed recordings of English language classroom talk show the functional distribution of utterances in MT in both teacher and learner talk. The results are discussed and conclusions are made.
