Sažetak
Byzantine presence in Istria in 6th to 8th century is confirmed in documents, archaeological finding, art works and has influenced one of the most prolific periods in Istrian art history. There are many aspects of Byzantine influence in all segments of life in the peninsula some of which are presented and discussed here: correspondence between the art of the center and provinces, reception of Byzantine aesthetics, techniques, materials, iconography, customs etc.
