Sažetak
Influenza epidemics have the gratest morbidity and mortality in the elderly. Therefore, annual vaccination aginst influenza is currently recommended for all people over the age of 65 years and the chronically ill. On the other side, there are studies demonstrating a decreased antibody response to influenza vaccine in elderly groups, when compared to young control groups. Aging and chronic diseases may affect the antibody response to vaccine due to the immune-system dysfunction. Alternatively, it has been suggested that other factors, concerning prior antigenic exposure, including original antigenic sin, preexisted antibody titres and repeated vaccinations - may be responsible for these age-related differences in antibody responses. Considering the human-body as the complex system with the high level of structural and functional integration, we have presumed that age-related disorders do affect the antibody response to influenza vaccine in elderly. Moreover, some disorders could be more important to predict their weak antibody response, than some others. We wanted to point out the underlying biomarkers of the weak serologic reactivity of the elderly and to shed more light on the complex relationships of the pathophysiology of aging and multimorbidity. In order to that, we analysed data, describing many characteristics of 93 aged volunteers, all general medicine ambulatory patients, vaccinated against influenza in the season 2003/2004. Data, collected, are structured in the form of the Base Data and analysed by using « ; ; Data mining» ; ; methodology.
