Sažetak
Installing the permanent central venous catheters- Port, broviac, Groshong, assures a safe place for an application of the longterm therapy and the place for taking blood for everyday analyses. painfull experiances of everyday assuring a periferal venous way in a child, are solved this way, and a quality of life is increased. A proper use of the catheters- respecting the rules of asepsis, on-time heparinization, ptotecting from damage ; can make them last up to two years. At the Oncological Unit of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, permanent CVC are iused since 1992. Up to 1998 there were 94 permanent CVC implanted ( Port 22, broviac 59, Groshong 12) in 80 patients. Zhe average duration of the catheters is 11 months. The shortest duration is a few days ( the reason of explantation- damage of the catheter ), and the longest duration is 4 years. The risk of CVC is in possible blood infection, which could be particulary dangerous for an immunocompromised child. Taking the blood samples for microbiological analysis is ordinary in every new opening of the system. The positive hemoculture was found in 12 our patients, and due to impossible destroying of patological microorganisms with aggressive antibiotics therapy, the permanent CVC was removed in 10 patients:. The isolated microorganisms were: Enterococcus (6), Staphylococcus epidermidis (5) and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (1). The decrease of the possible complkications of the permanent CVC is a result of mutual care of medical staff, children and parents.
