Sažetak
We present a preliminary study of UK newspaper coverage of two space missions: Beaggle 2 and Cassini-Huygens.Press coverage of the Beaggle 2 failure overlapped that of the Huygens success in January 2005. We looked at how scientists involved with science as research and events have to make comments on the hoof, without waiting for the peer review, and how than the media treat those. Our conclusion is that journalists and their readers have a more sophisticated understanding of science-in-the-making than is often supposed.
