Sažetak
Because of the importance of nitrogen in winter wheat nutrition during vegetation, as well as because of economic N-application efficacy, investigation by N-min method were carried out. The N-min method is based on the top-dressing application of nitrogen for winter wheat at tillering and forking stage taking into account the N-mineral content in the soil at different depths, depending on the root development. In this regard field trials were established with different nitrogen quantities and various methods of application (standard - conventional method; method according to visual estimation and according to NH3 and NH4 content in the soil). On the basis of results obtained by N-min method, the influence of total quantities of nitrogen and its mineral forms as well as the influence of its method of application on the plant nutrition status was determined. Four different strategies were investigated, with totally added N-amounts of 130, 160, 190 and 220 kg/ha. These strategies were compared with standard (conventional) and visually estimated technologies, taking into consideration the economic efficiency expressed as the financial value of 1 kg of produced winter wheat in relation to the financial value of 1 kg of totally applied nitrogen (by all manners of application). All obtained results of economic efficacy of top-dressing of winter wheat have shown the following: a) the winter wheat yields increase with the applied N-quantities; b) the increasing trend was more expressed only at the 6th strategy (9.5 kg wheat per 1 kg N) compared to the conventional (8.8 kg) and visually estimated strategy (9.3 kg); c) economic efficiency of all investigated strategies, including the conventional and visual methods, decreases with the increase of applied nitrogen, starting from minimal quantities. Comparing the smallest N-amounts used, it can be noted that the third and fourth examined strategy exhibit the same efficacy level as the conventional and the visually estimated strategy (approximately 15 USD yield per one USD invested in N). In contrast, economic efficacy of the minimal fifth strategy is slightly higher (17 USD yield per one USD invested in N). It clearly pays to invest in top dressing of soil with N. However, it is not sufficient to analyze only the technological efficacy; the economic one has to be taken into account as well. Using the quality sixth strategy of top dressing (50 kg/ha before sowing and 41 kg/ha for plant nutrition in the form of NH4), up to 50% better economic effects can be achieved compared to the traditional or visually estimated strategy.
