Sažetak
Objective: To assess the frequeny of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in patients in the program of chronic hemodilysis (HD) and their demographic and clinical characteristics Background: RLS is one of the most common movement disorders in general population. Methods: We analyzed 82 patients involved in the program of HD in order to find the patients who fullfield the criteria of the International RLS Study Group Results. The study encompased 82 patients in the program of HD. The mean duration of HD was 8.24 yrs. Out of them 80.4% reported RLS but the International RLS Study Group criteria were fullfield by 59% of the patients. Conclusions: RLS is very common syndrome in patients on HD. The factors that, along uremia, intensify RLS are diabetes, anemia anad application of the drugs aggravating this syndrome. This knowledge poses the need for rational combination of medications in patients on HD and for taking greater care about this.
