Sažetak
Supervision and control of a power substation requires the identification of all sources of information within that substation. Therefore, precise (as formal as possible) information modeling of such systems is of great importance.
In the article comparison of classical modeling strategy (we used it up to now) and new object-oriented modeling strategy is presented. It is shown the two approaches are compatible. We decided to use the object-oriented approach because of it's efficiency in modeling complex structured systems with many entities - sources of information. Important fact is that today object-oriented information modeling can be relied upon formal notation like the Rational's Unified Modeling Language (UML).
