Sažetak
The aim of this paper was to conduct a contrastive analysis of English similitudinal adjectives and their counterparts in Croatian and to establish the most frequent ways of translating these adjectives into Croatian. Due to the fact that the formation of these adjectives is a result of a morphological process called word-formation, the theoretical part of this paper covered some grammatical terms which are of importance for this area of English grammar. It was also necessary to give a view on the formation of similitudinal adjectives in Croatian from the point of view of a Croatian grammarian. The second part of the paper is the contrastive analysis of the examples found, which contains a fairly large number of English adjectives and their Croatian counterparts. All the adjectives were divided into six groups according to their suffixes and were consequently analyzed regarding the morphology and the meaning of the adjectives.
