Sažetak
Tympanosclerosis is a fibrohyaline degeneration of lamina propria of thr middle ear mucosa with preserving of the middle ear pneumatization. The lasting of otitis media is not the main factor in tympanosclerosis development, although tympanosclerosis is more often seen in chronic otitis media with perforations of the tympanic membrane.In contrast of tympanosclerosis, adhesive otitis media is characterized by strong fibrosis in the middle ear pneumatization which can finally cause complete obliteration of the middle ear pneumatization.Although von Tröltsch recognized tympanosclerosis in late 1869, even nowadays there is great dilemma according to the ethiology and therapy of the disease
