Sažetak
Performance of political, economic and institutional reforms consistent with the requirements and laws of the European Union (EU) has resulted in the improvement of investment and business environment in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and consequently in more intense trade and capital flows between them. This paper focuses on the consequences of EU enlargement in capital movements, particularly in foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows. Based on analysis of the FDI inflows in the CEE, the main purpose of this paper is to discuss the implications of the EU enlargement process on FDI inflows in the CEE. A special attention is paid to the analysis of FDI inflows in the CEE acceding to the EU in 2004 regarding their nature, geographical and sectoral shifts as well as investor's motives.
