Sažetak
Tourism is, undoubtably, one of the fastest growing world industries. Altough growth is one of its main features, social and economic forces operating at the global level, coupled with new ideas and approaches to leisure and recreation time are encouraging new trends in tourism. The result is shift from mass tourism, based on « ; sun, sea, sand» ; koncept, towards the so-called « ; soft tourism» ; , thus encouraging tourism development in rural areas. Agri- tourism, as a form of rural tourism, is a combination of accomodation, catering and farming. On an agritourism farm, tourism is an additional activity complementing the primar activity – agriculture. The agri-tourism household offers its guest an authentic product and service, catering him with mostly self-produced products. The tourist attractions in the surrounding area play an essential role in this process providing additional activities for the consumers of agri-tourism product. The main objective of this paper is to examine the trends of agritourism development in Europe and Croatia as a tool of underdeveloped (rural) areas regeneration and to examine the potential of its development in Sinj region, colloquially named "Cetinska Krajina".
