Sažetak
Due to growing public concern of possible harmful effects of EM radiation, numerical calculation of specific absorption rate (SAR) is becoming an important factor in designing handset antennas. A transmitter driving an antenna is frequently modeled as a simple zero-impedance voltage generator (hard source). A hard source model neglects dissipation of reflected power in transmitter internal resistance and therefore yields with an uncertainty in SAR calculation. An expression for the uncertainty of SAR calculation is derived using a simple circuit model of antenna-scatterer interaction. Based on the data from the literature and experimental results, the worst case uncertainty is estimated for two commonly used antennas: a dipole and planar inverted (PIFA) antenna. It is shown that worst-case uncertainty of SAR calculation is approximately 1-2 dB for dipole (or monopole) antenna and approximately 8-17 dB for PIFA antenna at frequency of 1GHz.
