Sažetak
The bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), is the most common aphid found on cereals. This species attacks all small grains including wheat, barley, oats and triticale, may also be found on sorghum and corn. It is also a vector of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). In 7 years of investigation (1996 – 2003) the population dynamic and dominance have been investigated by two methods: Rothamsted suction trap (RST) and yellow water trap (YWT), located in Zagreb. The dominance was calculated by Balogh formula. The first catch of R. padi by YWT was recorded on September 26 1996, September 17 1997, September 03 1998, May 11 1999, May 11 2001, April 04 2002 and June 06 2003. The first catch in all years of investigation, using RST, was recorded in the period 03 – 15 of May. The maximum flight, using both methods, in all years of investigation, was observed during the remigration flight of aphids, in the period 15 September to15 October. The last catch, using YWT, was recorded later then by using RST in all years of investigation. It occurred in 1st or 2nd decade of November. Using RST, the last catch was recorded in 3rd decade of October and in 1st or 2nd decade of November. In accordance to total population using RST, R. padi was defined as eudominant (18, 43%) in 1996, dominant (8, 53%) in 1998, subdominant in 1997 (3, 63%), 1999 (3, 22%), 2001(2, 38%) and in 2002 (2, 45%) and recent (1, 35%) in 2003. In accordance to total population using YWT, R. padi was defined as subdominant in 1996 (3, 73%), 1998 (2, 98%), and in 1999 (2, 2%). In 2001, 2002, 2003 R. padi was defined as recent while in 1997 it was defined as dominant species (7, 92%).
