Sažetak
This paper deals with an analysis of heat losses from ships' liquid cargo tanks. This analysis is based on the finite element method (FEM) which can successfully be used for heat transfer analysis. Input data consists of ship structure and given boundary conditions. The 70.000 dwt crude oil tanker with double bottom and double hull is taken as an example of calculation. Results obtained are a good basis for further calculation of required heating capacity and adequate equipment according to predicted conditions of ships exploitation. The final objective is a precise prediction of heating strategy with the aim of fuel and energy saving during periods of intensive cargo heating before unloading.
