Sažetak
Pitting attack is the most frequent corrosion form on stainless steels (SS) in chloride solutions like sea water. The tendency to pitti g is influenced by welding of SS owing to melting, heating and cooling which bring about structural/textural changes and superficial oxidation of the metal as well. This paper concerns an investigation of pitting liability of welded SS in FeCl3-solution using topographic and gravimetric methods. It has been established that the pits densities differ widely on base metal, on heat affected zone (HAZ) and on weld itself. On the countrary, maximum pit depths remain nearly constant after welding taking into consideration all mentioned zones of SS surface. By chemical or mechanical treatment after welding the zonal pits densities are esentially affected but without useful influence on the maximum pit depth.
