Sažetak
The physical-mechanical properties of 6 combed cotton yarns of nominal count of 20 tex were compared: 2 conventional, 4 compact spun using two different compact system. All yarns were spun from the same kind of cottons and with 2 levels of tex twist coefficient (3290 and 3480). From each one yarn the single jersey knittes fabric with the same physical parameters on the circular knitting machine (diameter of 93 mm, E17) were knitted. There are not significant differences in yarn evenness of compact and conventional yarns. The number of thin places of compact yarn with sensitivity level of -40% spun at the lower twist factor is lower than to conventional yarn. The compact yarns have mostly lower number of neps. The yarn hairness (H index) was significantly lower to compact yarns regardless of compact techniques used to conventional yarns. The compact yarns spun have higher level of strength than conventional yarns. There is significantly higher resistance to abrasion as well as to bursting to fabrics knitted with compact yarns.
