Sažetak
This investigation was aimed at monitoring ocurrence and severity of existing diseases as well as possible occurence of new diseases or pathotypes. Disease severity was more prevalent in the western, more humid locations, as contrasted to the eastern, drier locations with less severe attack. Bipolaris zeicola was the most frequent leaf disease found in all locations, with rating varying from 3 to 5. Puccinia sorghi was also a very frequent pathogen occurring in more western locations. Kabatiella zeae and Colletotrichum graminicola were found only sporadically. Determination of B. zeicola races based on the size and shape of lesions on test cultivars - Pr, W64A, B73, Mo17 and H95 was proposed. Of 22 isolates Exserohilum turcicum inoculated on differential cultivars in the greenhouse, 19 were race 2 and 3 were indentified as race 1. Race 2 was found on 15 seed corn fields in which the female parent had Ht1 gene.
