Sažetak
In his contribution to the creation of a nation through literature James Joyce took a path of liberationist anti-imperialism, whereby he attempted to "fly by the nets of nation, langugage and religion." He decided on the form of autobiography because, as Declan Kiberd says, "by exploring the Irish experience and ensuing self-understanding, autobiography becomes very important in explaining to the baffled people who they were." Three elements give us a glimpe into the consciousness of a nation: Irish history and politics, the illusion of revivalism and Irish language.
