Sažetak
The methodology of collecting statistical data regarding employment in sports still varies across the countries of EU so the data are hardly comparable among different countries. There is a lack of clear standards of professional qualifications of workers in sport and no or very little connections between the educational and the entrepreneurial sector. Changes indicate the presence of trend towards professionalism in sport employment in the European Union countries. This trend is expected in Croatia and other countries in transition also. Methodological coordination of statistical data is indispensable together with definitions of equivalencies in organisation of work, structure of employees and management of athletes and sport organisations. If Europe wants to act on the market as united, changes in this area can be expected.
