Sažetak
This paper deals with the analysis of shape of the charge welds in the extrusion of tubes by means of hollow dies (bridge dies) as a function of extrusion parameters, such as temperature, extrusion ratio and height of welding chamber. The experiments were performed by extrusion of Al99.5 tubes in laboratory conditions. The charge welds are graphically modelled by computer. Results of experiments supported by graphical modelling are used for making optimization of the extrusion parameters, taking the minimal length of the charge welds as criteria. The results of optimization have showed that decrease of the length of the charge welds, i.e. better metal flow through hollow dies, can be obtained by increasing the extrusion temperature, reducing extrusion ratio and lowering the height of the welding chamber.
