Sažetak
Aim of the study is to present midterm results of arthroscopic extra-articular and extracapsular plication technique for atraumatic shoulder instability. Material and Methods Between 2002 and 2005 twenty one operations using extra- articular knot and plication technique for atraumatic shoulder instability were performed. There were 13 men and 8 women with average age of 26 years (16 to 40 years). An average follow up was 48 months (12 to 50 months). Sixteen patients had atraumatic instability and five reported minor trauma prior that resulted in shoulder instability. On average they had more than ten dislocations. All patients were treated with anterior extra- articular knot and posterior extracapsular suture plication. In fourteen patients suture anchors were used. All patients were evaluated. History was taken, clinical examination done and ASES and Constant score obtained. Results Eleven patients were very satisfied and ten satisfied with postoperative outcome. One patient (5 %) had another dislocation after surgery. An average Constant score was 93 points (from 87 to 97 points), average ASES being 94 (from 83 to 100 points). Discussion / Conclusion Arthroscopic extra-articular knot and extracapsular plication technique for atraumatic shoulder instability gives an opportunity to surgeon to correct both direction and degree of shoulder instability. Middle term results of arthroscopic repair show good clinical and functional outcome for patients who had extensive shoulder disability.
