Sažetak
As a contribution to a lasting discussion regarding the media construction of the first Croatian democratic presidential figure, this article analyzes procedures of its humoristic “ deconstruction” in photo-montages appearing on the cover of the political weekly Feral tribune, thereby foregrounding two main issues. The first one is the controversy regarding the primacy of either their political or their aesthetic function, while the second concerns their hybrid generic genealogy – of tabloid covers on one hand and of artistic avant-guard on another – as well as more precise detection of their strategies. Finally, the author argues that the key of their “ uncanniness” is to be found in the “ feminization” to which they submitted the presidential figure.
