Sažetak
Aluminum extrusion process is so complex that no individual can have completes insight into the problem and make decisions alone. Many parameters should be measured and controlled in each stage of extrusion process in order to improve productivity and section quality. Two major parameters which should be always controlled in each extrusion process are temperature and extrusion rate. These parameters become especially important in isothermal extrusion i.e. extrusion at constant maximum exit temperature. This can be achieved either with evenly heated billets and controlled extrusion rate, or with taper heated billets and constant extrusion rate. Measure and control of extrusion rate and billet temperature are not problem to the present equipment. However, the control of sections exit temperature is still a provocative task. This paper presents control principles and algorithms that should be developed for introducing isothermal extrusion process in an extrusion plant. They are based on speed curves and Program Logic Controller that automatically control the extrusion rate to achieve constant exit temperature.
