Sažetak
To investiage correlation between the type and degree of LV hypertrophy (LVH) and incidence of supraventricular arrhythmias (SVA) in pts with hypertensive heart disease. One hundred and ninety-two pts (79 males, 100 females, 43-90 years, median 69) with LVH were examined. Subjects were classified into three groups with regard to the type of hypertrophy (concentric, eccentric, and asymmetric) and intothree subgroups with regard to the degree of hypertrophy (mild, moderate, and severe). Apart from clinical data, BMI and BSA were determined. After discontinuing all medications for a period of 48 hours blood pressure, heart frequency, ECG data, echocardiographic data were measured and the incidence of SVA by Holter monitoring and bicycle ergometry recorded. Antihypertensive drugs and duration of prevoius treatment were taken into consideration. SVPBs were detected in as many as 93% of pts. Paroxysmal or permanent AF or SVPT was found in 39% pf pts. The size of LA was borderline (39.9 mm) and LV mass index was significantly above normal values (174 g/m2). The incidenceof SVA increased with the degree of hypertrophy only in men with concentric type (p=0.015). In women there was a mild tendency to increase. No correlation was found with the type of hypertrophy. The incidence of SVA correlates with the degree of LVH in the concentric type. No correlation was found with the type of hypertrophy.
