Sažetak
This paper presents a number of psycholinguistic experiments investigating one of the most pressing hypotheses in cognitive linguistics, viz. the presence and/or degree of polysemy relevant for language representation and processing by actual speakers, the users of cognitive linguistics usage based approach. The main challenge was to demonstrate that languge users make more discriminations within the semantic usage potential of a word than is logically necessary. Even though the experiments do not yield conclusive results, it is claimed that there is a need for the empirical approach they represent.
