Sažetak
In recent decades the tanned look has been fashionable, symbolizing attractiveness, youth, fitness and the « ; good life» ; .On the other hand, there is increasing awareness that overexposure to solar UV radiation may result in acute and chronic health effects on the skin and the eye. However, what can be done when the signs of photoaging are already present? There are various treatment modalities which help to improve the appearance of chronically photodamaged skin, but laser therapy remains unequalled in this field. Complications after laser resurfacing may be minor (milia, contact dermatitis, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation) or severe (bacterial infections, delayed healing, hypopigmentation). The most severe complications include hypertrophic scarring and ectropion. In conclusion, for properly selected patient, the clinical results achieved after laser resurfacing are often excellent. Although there are various new technologies touted to be comparable with laser resurfacing, no treatment modality to date can replace laser resurfacing with respect to overall improvement of chronically photodamaged skin.
