Sažetak
When designing digital handwriting forms it is necessary to bring into alignment alphabetic characters' thickness values in order for the letter to look uniform, rhythmic, ?natural?, pleasing to the eye, legible. The study is based on designing handwriting fonts and exploring manners of approach in creating fonts during student exercises. The research work has covered all Croatian letter signs, digits and punctuation marks. The paper contains measurements of the existing font thickness values and comparison of handwriting fonts' thickness values with individual, completely new forms created by students. In fulfilling the task of creating one's own handwriting font the majority of students decided to make completely separate alphabetic characters. A small number of students chose the ?linked? handwriting font that reflects a strong impression of handwritten character. This is a more difficult task to fulfill because it is necessary to create and test all possible combinations in linking alphabetic characters, in their heights and thickness values.
