Sažetak
Plecoptera of the mediterranean river Cetina, as well as of Croatia in general are completely unknown. Only 28 species of Plecoptera are so far officially recorded for Croatia. Most likely, this number represents just a small part of actually present species in Croatia because e.g. for neighboring Slovenia about 100 stonefly species are known. The research of stonefly fauna of the river Cetina was conducted during May, June, July, August and September 2005 and during March and April 2006. Qualitative samples of the adult Plecoptera and larvae were collected manually and with entomological net on ten different locations through the whole flow of the river Cetina and on the springs of three tributaries, spring Sveti Spas, spring of the river Ruda and spring of the river Grab. Aim of this work was to investigate the diversity and the distribution of stoneflies along the river Cetina. The results are based on identification of adult insects and only in some cases preimaginal phases are taken into consideration. In five families 14 species of stoneflies were recorded from 9 different genera, 3 of which belong to the family Nemouridae (Nemoura, Amphinemura, Protonemura), 2 to the family Perlidae (Perla, Dinocras), 2 to the family Perlodidae (Besdolus, Isoperla), and 1 to the family Leuctridae (Leuctra) and 1 to the family Taeniopterygidae (Brachyptera). Location with the highest diversity was a lateral spring at Preočani village, about 1.5 km downstream the main spring of the river Cetina. Eight species were recorded there, 3 species from the genus Isoperla and 1 species from each of the following genera: Nemoura, Protonemura, Perla, Leuctra and Brachyptera. Five species found along Cetina river were not yet recorded in Croatian fauna and therefore are important and new findings for Croatia.
