Sažetak
Legal education has an important role in shaping up the Croatian legal culture. The Croatian students of law were present at the foreign university centres from very early time but in the Croatian regions elements of legal education appeared only through legal courses in the framework of a broader education or through short lasting institutions. Stable and continuos form of legal study appeared only by the end of the 18th century in Varaždin and then in Zagreb. Understanding of the development of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb contributes to understand the building up of the Croatian legal system, particularly in regard to the transfer of laws.
