Sažetak
Considering given theoretical background, this specific master thesis is based on several basic issues: the value of newspaper material as an information carrier, the necessity of its proper preservation and storage with an emphasis on the use of digital technologies in order to make such material available ; and creating a preservation model for local newspaper collection in national contest. During the research in the heritage institutions (city library, museum and archive) in the Osijek area, Croatia, the aim is to determine the scope and condition of newspaper holdings, which preservation measures were conducted so far and whether there is a long-term preservation plan. This will be done by the method of qualitative analysis of theoretical texts and project reports, monitoring of conditions in the mentioned heritage institutions, interviewing preservation experts and institution leaders. The final aim of the work is to offer preservation model for 19th and early 20th century local (Osijek) newspapers based on cooperation of heritage institutions and on applying digital technologies according to examples of good practice in the world.
