Sažetak
Surface phenomena control the adhesion parameters at the interface in all multicomponent systems such are adhesive joint, composite systems, blend systems and other multiphase polymer systems. The increased work of adhesion, lowered interfacial free energy and positive coefficient of wetting, as the optimal adhesion parameters lead to the effective adhesion at the interface between the selected components in multiphase systems. In the present overview we will make the comparison of the selected examples of our results about the effects of the particular fillers such are calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and wollastonite in the selected matrices ; poly (vinyl acetate) (PVAc), polyurethane (PU), polypropylene (PP) as well as SAN/EPDM blend. The improved adhesion parameters at the interface with nanoparticles are of special interest in our investigations due to the expected significant improvements of properties of nanocomposites in comparison to its microcomposite counterparts. This behaviour depends mostly on the great active surface area of nanofillers, with size under 100 nm. The controlled filler surface pre-treatments changed the surface energetic and functionality that reflects on the interface properties and might cause the significant changes of the morphology, mechanism of failure and properties of particulate filled multiphase systems. The additional problem in some multiphase systems is uniform dispersion of nanofillers in polymer matrix. We found that in situ technology of preparation the PVAc+CaCO3 nanocomposites in comparison to the mixing procedure resulted in the more homogeneous morphology and significantly improved properties.
