Sažetak
Waiting for the collection and not gaining interests make receivables unproductive assets since this assets do not generate any income. Therefore, in order to avoid unliquidness as a possible consequence of money bounded in receivables, it is necessary to ensure funds needed for normal system functioning. A way of acquiring funds is transforming receivables in money - factoring. Factoring represent the transaction where a firm either sells its receivables to a factoring-company - a factor, or borrows money ensuring a loan with its receivables – a collateral in a loan. Anyway, it is a form of asset-based finance which ensures the needed cash flow very quickly. The role of factoring in financing small and medium-size enterprises is growing very quickly in developing economies. This paper focuses on factoring – the new service on the Croatian financial market, its advantages and institutional aspects. It also gives suggestions for the creation of a conveniently economic and legal environment by establishing regulatory rules. That way the basis for factoring’ s existence and achievement of optimal results of liquidness as a condition for successful business, as well as possibilities for managing own cash flows, will be ensured, enabling the acceleration of economic development in general.
